The Sentra seats five and is offered in six models, listed as S, SV, SR, SR Turbo, Nismo and SL. Powering the S, SV, SR, and SL is a 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine that develops 124 horsepower and 125 lb-ft of torque. A continuously variable transmission (CVT) is standard on the SV, SR and SL and available on the S trim level, which gets a standard six-speed manual transmission. Equipped with the manual gearbox, the S puts out 130 hp and 128 lb-ft. Outfitted with the six-speed manual transmission, this engine gets an EPA-estimated 27 mpg in the city and 35 mpg on the highway.* With the CVT, the figures are 29 mpg in the city and 37 mpg on the highway.

The Nissan Sentra SR Turbo and Nismo trim levels are equipped with a turbocharged 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine that makes 188 hp and 177 lb-ft of torque, mated to either a six-speed manual transmission or a CVT with a manual-shift mode. Both trim levels come with a sport-tuned suspension. EPA-estimated fuel economy for this engine with the manual gearbox is 26 mpg in the city and 32 mpg on the highway, while the automatic transmission returns 27 mpg in the city and 33 mpg on the highway.

The IIHS gave the 2019 Nissan Sentra its top marks of Good in every crash test. All models get a standard rearview camera.
